Fashion Jobs – 5 Power Suits for In and Out of the Office

Style Nine to Five - Fashion Jobs in Canadasuit inspo1

Looking to purchase a suit sounds like an investment and is often intimidating especially if you are a first-time suit buyer. From the cuts and the lengths to the fits and fabrics, it’s all quite confusing and there is nothing worse than going shopping and feeling lost and overwhelmed. Because fashion evolves so quickly, so does office attire. We no longer have to stick to the all-black uniform; we can wear colour, texture, and prints showing off our personalities and fashion swag while still looking professional.  Here are our most coveted suit inspirations to give your work wardrobe the face-lift it needs.

color suit

Colour
The thought of a full coloured suit is probably frightening and not something you want to take a chance on, but it’s a great way to break up the blacks and greys and venture out. If you want to keep muted, opt for blue or burgundy, but if you’re feeling adventurous try light pinks or even orange. You will also get major compliments during after work plans and won’t look like you just left a business meeting.

plaid suit

Plaid
We love that plaid is taking back the spotlight and is a major print to keep in your closet this fall. With plaid, there are so many options to choose from whether you like green and navy or prefer classic camel and beige prints. Plaid is a fun and charismatic print and is polish and professional for in the office but edgy for a night on the town.

wide leg

Wide Leg
For those who enjoy the relaxed non-fussy vibe, the wide leg pant is your go-to suit option. With a wide leg, we think of pajama silk fabric, which would we amazing to wear to work, but for a sophisticated office look, we look for a higher waist pant that has a natural flare in the leg. It should look more retro and less bohemian, and looks chic with a longer blazer.

velvet suit

Masculine Edge
If you are classic and can’t fathom the thought of wearing anything other than a tailored and timeless suit, we have you covered. A black suit is where we all start, it is safe and trustworthy and won’t ever let you down. But a suit in a fabric like satin or velvet can bring your timeless piece to a luxe look that will boost your confidence at work but turn heads at your next event.

print suit

Prints
While some might argue a printed suit is too much, we strongly disagree and argue more is better. Prints don’t have to always be large and graphic, and when looking at a suit often times a smaller cohesive print works best and is more attractive to the eye. We love gingham or even a retro print to have you looking sharp for a night out.
