Fashion Jobs – Six Style Resolutions You Should Keep This Year

Style Nine to Five - Fashion Jobs in Canada

New Year, New me! Let’s get real here, how many of us have said that saying at least once so far this year? Realistically, probably all of us.

The start of a New Year signifies a fresh start, which is why as soon as the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, we all begin mentally planning on what we’re going to change throughout the year. While many focus on improving their health, or getting a promotion at work, the Style Nine to Five team is using this year to focus on expressing ourselves through our fashion choices.

Here are the six fashion resolutions we intend on keeping in 2017 so we can have our most stylish year ever.

1. Colour

Don’t Be Afraid of Colour

Every fashionista can attest that their wardrobe consists of mostly black and neutral shades. Why you ask? Black just goes well with everything and gives you a bit of a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson edge. While an all back uniform is reliable (and slimming), it’s also extremely safe and often quite dull. 2017 is the year that we’re going to focus on incorporating vibrant hues into our wardrobes. From fierce jackets to traffic stopping accessories, this year is going to be all about colour.

2.Patterns

Experiment with Patterns

We’ll be the first to admit that we’re guilty of taking fashion too seriously, which typically means we’re too afraid to experiment with our outfits. But on the contrary, fashion should be fun and about wearing what makes you feel comfortable in and what truly expresses your personality.

One of the best ways to let your inner fashionista shine is through patterns. Whether you’re into more traditional, conservative patterns like stripes and polka dots or you’re into bold accents like houndstooth or cheetah, patterns are the perfect way to express your personality.

3. Trends

Don’t be a Slave to Trends

Wearing something just because every major model and celebrity is (especially if you don’t like it) will leave you feeling uncomfortable and it just won’t suit your personal style. This year, we’re sticking more with what we feel confident in and less of what’s super trendy for a month.

4. Mackage

Splurge on Investment, Staple Pieces

Rather than spending all your money on things you’ll only get a few wears out of and then toss aside, use your hard-earned money to purchase things you’ll be able to wear for years to come. Remember, trends come and go but true style is forever.

5. Pinterest Insps

Use Inspiration

To help keep your style goals on track, it’s smart to use a Pinterest board to refer to when you’re looking for inspiration. There you can follow all your favourite style icons and use their outfits for guidance when deciding what to wear.

6. Body shape

Shop for Your Body-Type

This year, do yourself a favor and start shopping for your body rather than what’s in style. By focusing on your assets (no pun intended) you can build up a killer repertoire of looks that flatter your frame.
