A job interview isn’t a one-way interrogation! It’s a get-to-know-you conversation for both sides—this means always asking a few questions of your own. As seen in the Girlboss newsletter, Style Nine to Five’s career expert, Christie Lohr, shares her tips on top interview questions to ask.
What are the first deliverables that I’d be working on? This is your chance to learn what you’ll be doing day-to-day. Asking this question shows that you already see yourself in the role and are eager to roll up your sleeves and dive in.
What do you like best about working here? This question gives you intel about the company culture and creates a connection with the interviewer when you take the time to ask about their experience.
What are the key challenges this position might face? Ask this question so you can speak to how you’ll handle potential obstacles like a boss and how you can tackle on-the-job hurdles. This is also your glimpse into what you’ll be up against when you dive into the role.
Can you tell me about the team I’ll be working with? Show that you’re invested in being part of the team and can’t wait to get to know them and how your role fits into the group. This question also demonstrates that teamwork and people are important to you, both of which will impress any hiring manager.
