Today, we’re rounding up our favourite podcasts centred around career and work. A podcast is a great way to passively absorb information. Personally, I love to habit stack a podcast with daily activities – cleaning the house, my commute to work or a hot girl walk. Think of podcases as your guide to career essentials – who the movers and shakers are, and where to get the best tips and motivation to move you forward in your career. Plus, how you can leverage this content to find success in your own career.
Here are some of our favourites to press play on while we get stuff done!
The Business of Fashion
If you’re seeking a career in fashion, this is basically your holy grail. The Business of Fashion focuses on trends in the industry, from a business perspective. BoF gets into the weeds and leans more on the high fashion side. If you are serious about a career in fashion BoF will give you some of the background knowledge of the industry to really impress your network.
Career Contessa
The Career Contessa Podcast is a weekly podcast with a focus on women in the workplace. Each week focuses on a new topic and episodes are manageable at 30 – 45 min. Career Contessa isn’t afraid to ask the awkward and hard-hitting questions – like how to talk about salary, how to work while grieving and how to prepare for a recession.
The Business Casual
Targeted at young professional females. Hosts Stacey and Marianna sit down each week with a different female trailblazer. Each episode gives the listener the opportunity to hear advice from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Mind Your Own Business!
For the entrepreneur! This podcast is dedicated to those looking to start their own business. From networking tips, to marketing yourself, to the “what not to do’s” from those who have been there. Host Sue Styles has conversations with everyone from CEO’s to fashion influencers and chats all things entrepreneurial.
Well, Now What?
Are you a new grad, overwhelmed with opportunity and not sure what to do next? Check out Well, Now What? Aimed at twenty-something recent graduates looking to take the next step in their careers, these episodes can help you figure it out.
Lastly, if you have your heart set on a dream company, engage and follow as much as possible with that specific company. A quick search on Spotify for your company of choice will pull up some results including interviews with employees – often with designers, interns, or HR reps. These conversations can give you insight into how they got into their role, who to network with, behind the scenes info on company culture and usually, some advice on how to get your foot through the door!
