Toronto Fashion Jobs – New Year, New Opportunities

This time of year, whether you’re employed in fashion or looking for employment, it’s busy. When you’re working, you’re working hard and when you’re looking for work, you can sometimes come up short. It’s not you, it’s the holidays! They happen to go by very quickly. With that in mind, it’s important to keep motivated, inspired and focused. A New Year is on the horizon, with new opportunities for you to create! It’s time for a refreshed perspective.

For fashion people, the sparkly wardrobe delights of the season, combined with the repeat trips to retailers, is pure temptation overload. Instead of pining for what you want, think about the creative possibilities. Inspiration comes in many forms, they say, and what better time of year to scope out the direction of this fantastic art form. People who take their cues from nature, music, people, celebration, emotion – whatever – have a wealth of resources this time of year. Think about what inspires you to be creative and what has inspired you to pursue your career in the first place. Then round up your ideas and begin!

What can you do with all this inspiration? Focus. This is the time of year to send cards to former employers, emails to former classmates, and network at holiday parties. Take advantage of the opportunity to reconnect. Discuss plans and goals for the New Year with the support of family and friends and make sure to listen to their contributions. Organize and prioritize your goals, and continue to learn and reach outside your area of fashion expertise. Keep searching for personal inspiration, mentors, experience and widening your skill set. And, if what you’ve been doing isn’t working for you, don’t fret. You’ve got a brand spankin’ New Year to try on!
