About the Role

We're looking for a freelance Fashion Industry Contributor to help us create engaging content for our audience of job seekers, employers, and fashion professionals.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interviewing people, uncovering interesting stories, and staying on top of what's happening in the fashion, retail, and luxury industries.

You'll help readers better understand what it's really like to work in fashion while highlighting the people, brands, and career paths that make up the industry.

What You'll Do

• Pitch and write approximately 2-3 articles per month
• Research and develop story ideas relevant to the Style Nine to Five audience
• Conduct interviews with industry professionals, founders, recruiters, and team leaders
• Write engaging, informative articles that align with the Style Nine to Five voice
• Meet agreed-upon deadlines and editorial schedules
• Collaborate with our Managing Editor on story direction and edits

You Should Have

• Previous writing experience for a publication, blog, magazine, newsletter, or media outlet
• Strong interviewing and storytelling skills
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
• Interest in fashion, retail, luxury, and consumer brands
• Confidence reaching out to professionals and conducting interviews

Nice to Have

• Existing connections within the Canadian fashion or retail industry
• Experience writing profiles, interviews, or feature articles
• Familiarity with brands such as Lululemon, Aritzia, SSENSE, Mejuri, Knix, and other leading Canadian brands
• Understanding of digital publishing and SEO best practices

Compensation

$100-$150 CAD per article

Approximately 2-3 articles per month.
