With March in full swing, and the weather warming up on the west coast, spring is officially in the air. As a customary greeting to the season of new life and rebirth, it’s time to bid winter’s heavy knits and sombre neutrals farewell, and adopt a lighter, brighter disposition for the coming months.
There’s nothing more exciting than prepping your wardrobe for the new season. Whether that means swapping out cold weather favourites for the pieces that received the most mileage last spring, or purchasing new additions altogether – I’m willing to bet the following items will be making more than just a few appearances in your future ensembles.
A Pair of Light Wash Denim:
Light wash denim is the perfect (and much less daunting) alternative to white denim for spring. Cropped, distressed, or boyfriend-cut styles in lightweight fabrics are all great options to consider when adding to your jean collection.
A Strappy Block Heel
A strappy block heel is really the best of both worlds – offering the stability of a winter bootie, while giving you a chance to show off that fresh pedicure as the temperatures start rising!
A Vibrant Crossbody
Neutrals may be the dominating palette when it comes to winter fashion, but spring is all about colour, and vibrant colour at that. Invest in a small to mid-sized crossbody bag, just roomy enough to fit all your essentials into, which can also serve as the exclamation point to any outfit.
A Trench Coat
Unfortunately, the dawn of spring doesn’t necessary mean automatic t-shirt weather, as is the case in many places. If I had to choose one outerwear piece to wear all season, it would be a quality trench coat. This versatile piece will protect you against the spring breeze, all the while being anything but stuffy.
A Go-To Button Down
Every girl needs a white button down. Whether you prefer cotton, linen, or even silk (for a bit of luxe) – this wardrobe staple will undoubtedly be working overtime this spring.
