I love shift dresses for their versatility. Due to their high-collared cut, they are totally appropriate for the office, while being highly flattering and easy to accessorize up for any evening event. While I do advocate having at least one basic shift dress in your closet as a go-to piece, sometimes, it’s nice to make a statement by rocking a classic with an unexpected twist. Armed with that exact mindset, I decided to make this leather trimmed, mixed media shift dress the focal point of my look. Although the addition of the piping detail, tweed, and asymmetric hem gives the dress some attitude, the piece itself is still conservative enough for the workplace, especially when you throw a blazer on over top.

Speaking of blazers, I opted for a reverse-tuxedo style blazer, where the body is black with cream trimmings. Opaque tights add extra warmth while acting as a neutral canvas to show off the dress, and black, leather ankle boots complete the outfit. When it came to styling my hair, I decided on a sleek up-do to carry on the theme of professional and polished.
