I recently spoke with Kristy Wieber, Co-founder and President of Canadian company, Rent frock Repeat. You might have seen Rent frock Repeat’s job postings, Logistics And Operations Associate, Beauty Video Blogger Intern and Stylist Intern on Style Nine to Five. The successful fashion e-commerce site is on the up and up and are expanding fast – here’s the inside scoop of what’s in store for RfR.
ND: How would you explain Rent frock Repeat to somebody who has never shopped with you?
KW: Rent frock Repeat is an ecommerce site that allows women all across Canada to rent a designer dress at up to 90% off the retail cost. Women go online, choose a dress in the size they want, as well as back up size for free, then tell us where and when they want it delivered. We send the dress along with a prepaid return envelope & after 4 or 8 days, they put their dress in that envelope and drop it at the nearest Canada Post mailbox. We take care of dry cleaning. We also have a showroom in Toronto where women can try on the dresses during private fittings. We also offer Skype and phone consultations.
ND: What was the inspiration behind Rent frock Repeat?
KW: My business partner and I were invited to a wedding and were complaining that we didn’t want to buy another dress that was going to get worn once and then hang in our closet. We came across a company in the US that rented designer dresses, but they didn’t ship to Canada. We thought women across Canada deserved a service that allowed them access to a virtual designer closet.
ND: How do you choose what brands to carry?
KW: We certainly strive to carry established designers with a proven track record of impeccable design and quality, but we also love to find up-and-coming designers to introduce to our members as well as giving new Canadian designers a platform to share their work.
ND: What is it like to work at Rent frock Repeat?
KW: Certainly fast paced, but also incredibly fun. As a start-up we all have to wear many different hats so you have to be willing to pitch in where needed, but it makes for a very strong and cohesive team. Every day is different and priorities can change very quickly, so we look to bring on people who are pro-active problem solvers with a desire to be a part of a start-up.
ND: How is Rent frock Repeat looking to expand?
KW: As we grow, so do the roles in our company. We just brought on a Director of Marketing and a Business Development Representative. As the locations grow, so will the number of Stylists, Social Media Coordinators, etc.
ND: What will get Rent Frock Repeat customers excited for next season?
KW: We’re growing so fast! That means a lot of new inventory, new designers, and more selection in more sizes. In addition, our Toronto showroom is moving into much bigger space in February, and we’re opening a showroom in Ottawa in the new year and Calgary soon after that.
