It’s hard not to be drawn to the intricacies of lace & crochet detailing on apparel; to me, it represents the beginning of summer, and a feeling of lightness and ease. Fortunately, this trend has been slowly making its way back onto the runways as designers reach for a more bohemian aesthetic for summertime apparel. But this trend is certainly nothing new; in fact, it has its roots deep in fashion history. Take, for example the delicate lacy garments from the Victorian era, with certain items used to display the wealth and good taste of the wearer.
In modern fashion, lace is used to add a beautiful richness to otherwise understated pieces. Zara has been working wonderfully with lace this past season, and items like the Embroidered Dress with Lace are a perfect example of a simple version of the trend.
Other brands, like California based Stone Cold Fox, use lace & crochet in almost every one of their vintage-inspired pieces. The Black Guerilla Crop is the perfect item to pair with your favourite jeans and low key jewellery for an instant California aesthetic.
