About Ethereal Archives

Ethereal Archives is a Vancouver-founded platform helping collectors document, authenticate, and preserve the provenance of their most valuable pieces, from fine watches and jewellery to art. We're gearing up for our soft launch this fall, and we're looking for a research intern to help us build out the story behind every item that comes through our collection.

Our mission is to give collectors a permanent, trustworthy record of what they own and why it matters, so the history, provenance, and value of a piece are never lost to time, a move, or a generation. We're a small, founder-led team building something new in a space that has traditionally relied on scattered paperwork and word of mouth, and every item we document is treated with the same rigor and discretion we'd want for our own.

The Role

This is a paid, project-based internship, with the potential to grow into an ongoing monthly role. You'll research each item Ethereal Archives receives, from watches and jewellery to fine art and heirlooms, building out its history, provenance, and market context to feed directly into our client documentation and archiving process.

Item Research

For each item received, you'll dig into its maker or brand history, provenance and ownership history where available, comparable sales and market value, and any notable details relevant to authentication or appraisal. You'll pull from auction records, brand archives, appraiser resources, and other credible sources, then compile clear, well-organized write-ups that become part of the client's permanent record.

What We're Looking For

• Based in or near Metro Vancouver

• Strong research and writing skills, with an eye for credible sourcing

• Comfortable researching across categories such as watches, jewellery, fine art, and other luxury goods

• Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple items and deadlines at once

• Comfortable handling confidential client and item information with discretion

• Bonus: photography experience. We occasionally need item photography alongside the research, so a working knowledge of styled or documentary-style product photography is a strong plus, though not required

Compensation & Logistics

• Paid, project-based to start. Rate: TBD

• Potential to grow into an ongoing monthly role based on fit and workload

• A background check is required prior to starting, given the confidential nature of client and item information

Interview Process

1. Resume and writing sample or portfolio review

2. Interview with the Ethereal Archives team

3. Paid trial project: a research write-up on a sample item, plus a photography sample if applicable
