PAY: $70,000-$85,000 + (bonuses/perks)

Apparelmark is a fast-paced, multi-layer design agency facilitating local and international clients in the technical apparel & accessory industry. Working from our inhouse office in Vancouver, our team oversees design processes, development, fittings, procurement and production management of an assortment of brands in the fashion industry. As a leading agency in the freelance design category we intended to hire and collaborate with a veteran industry professional to help us get to the next level as a team. Role and Responsibilities:

You will be tasked with client facing, end to end style type projects and overseeing a junior designer who will be supporting you in every assignment.

Day-to-Day - You will interpret client’s ideas into inspirational but functional garment design presentation supported by sketches and trends. Chosen designs will move into the development phase where you will help lead material & trim procurement and work together with a developer to create technical sketches, measurements specs and BOMS for the manufacturer to turn into prototypes. Once prototypes are received, you will be responsible for leading fittings, and making fit suggestions and improvements that must be communicated to clients and vendors.

Overall - you will manage end to end design-development process follow up with external email communication necessary to move garments into production often working on 8-10 different brands at a time. You will provide direction and inspiration to the developer and help navigate clients through the garment development process.

You must be prepared to have an opinion on all things to do with starting a brand - including, colorway selection, lab dips, branding, labels, hangtags, etc., and have the patience to walk clients through the process.

Requirements:

• 4-5 years apparel industry experience in design and/or development

• Ability and desire to work on various product types

• Expertise using Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Illustrator

• Complete understanding of the design/development process of a garment from ideation to production

• Confidence managing multiple product timelines one time

• Experience in development (creating T/Ps, building BOM’s, and communicating sample comments

• Can confidently lead live fit sessions with clients and models

• Expert in creating and presenting eye catching design briefs

• Can identify fit issues and make recommendations

• Excellent communication skills that can be adapted to client and vendor interactions

• Experience with Clo3d, Gerber, or other pattern making software an asset

• Experience with Pro-create an asset

• Experience liaising with overseas garment factories

• Knowledge of local development and production facilities an asset

Assessment Period/Bonus Pay Structure:

We will treat your first 90 days with us an opportunity to get to know you and give you the opportunity to evaluate us as an employer. During this period you will be working closely with our team to learn our policies, processes, templates and internal operations. Upon completion of the initial 90 days you will fully introduced into your new role.
