Job Model: Assistant Buyer
Analytical, data-based decisions.
• Assist in analyzing the area of business assigned and reports on sell throughs, best sellers, rate of sale, weeks of supply, productive vs nonproductive stores, and overall sales trend indicators to the GMM.
• Identifies weak areas of your business unit and develops resources on how to deal with any lagging inventory issues in conjunction with the GMM.
• Creates growth by feeding best sellers through replenishment or escalation of delivery of same product or similar product where possible.
• Makes note of season to date highly productive inventory in preparation of planning for next season. Conversely, takes note of underperforming or problem merchandise to avoid or look for better alternatives.
• Through store visits, discussion with store managers, GMM, Honey - understand the why or the impetus to buy by the honey customer - both for best sellers and in a wider view of what the customer is looking for, what occasions she is dressing for and what merchandise she wanted that we missed on.
In market
• Constant research and idea building of different trends and how to engage the honey customer through new and exciting merchandise. Builds a look book to capture images of different ideas.
• Prepares for vendor appointments with all data, images and a plan approved by the GMM to fulfill.
• Write orders commensurate to successful inventory levels and store and warehouse capacities. A clear understanding of each store’s volume for your category.
• Ensures all paperwork including order sheets, purchase orders, distributions and any follow-up administration is executed in a timely manner.
• Quality control: beware of any potential mass RTV issues due to the nature of fabric, construction, history of high propensity of wear & tear on store shelves, any colorations that tend to fade or change. The items are best avoided.
• Manage inventory through transfers or consolidation with rational awareness of upcoming deliveries, envisioning the store assortments and the costs involved.
