About the Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to work as a Buyer for two unique and complementary independent fashion businesses in Halifax. You will play a key role in buying, inventory strategy, merchandising, product planning, and the ongoing development and production of our in-house brand.
We are seeking someone with strong industry knowledge, excellent organizational and analytical skills, and a genuine passion for boutique retail, fashion trends, and customer experience. The ideal candidate combines creative instinct with strong business judgment and thrives in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
This is a 14-month maternity leave contract. While the role is temporary, we value long-term relationships and will always look for opportunities to retain exceptional people as our business continues to evolve.

About the Role
Sattva Inc. is seeking a Fashion Buyer & Inventory Manager to oversee purchasing, inventory management, merchandising coordination, and seasonal product planning for our retail brands, including Sattva Boutique, Another Shop, and Sattva by Sarah.
This role requires both analytical and creative thinking. The successful candidate will maintain a strong understanding of seasonal trends while balancing analytical and creative decision-making to positively influence product mix, sales performance, margins, and sell-through.
Working closely with the Founder, the Buyer will collaborate on seasonal direction while independently managing daily buying responsibilities, open-to-buy budgets, vendor relationships, staff product knowledge and inventory performance.
The Buyer will also work collaboratively with store leadership to support product performance, merchandising direction, and inventory flow.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Strategic sourcing and vendor management
• Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
• Managing budgets, margins, and open-to-buy planning
• Preparing weekly and monthly inventory and sales reporting
• Coordinating shipments, receiving, and product processing
• Replenishing best-selling products and monitoring inventory performance
• Planning seasonal product assortments based on trends, price points, category opportunities, and customer demand
• Managing vendor appointments, seasonal purchasing, and purchase orders
• Overseeing markdown strategies, inventory movement, and product rotation
• Managing return authorizations (RAs) and product follow-up
• Supporting visual merchandising and strategic product placement
• Collaborating across retail concepts to ensure diversity in product assortment, merchandising direction, and brand identity
• Providing elevated customer service, direct in-store sales & styling

The ideal candidate is:
• Solution-oriented, proactive, and highly organized
• Detail-focused and confident working with numbers and inventory systems
• Experienced in retail analysis, inventory management, and merchandising strategy
• Comfortable multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment
• Passionate about fashion, styling, trends, and boutique retail culture
• Collaborative, adaptable, and self-motivated
• A strong communicator with excellent leadership and decision-making skills
• Possesses a strong sense of personal style and awareness of contemporary fashion trends
Qualifications & Experience
Required
• Previous experience in women’s fashion buying, merchandising, or wholesale fashion
• Strong written communication, organizational, and administrative skills
• Experience managing inventory, purchasing processes, or retail reporting
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and staff
• Strong understanding of product assortment planning and trend analysis
Assets
• Leadership or team management experience
• Experience working in boutique or independent retail environments
• Familiarity with Excel, inventory systems, and retail analytics
Schedule & Flexibility
Depending on the successful candidate’s preferences and availability, this role can range from approximately 28–40 hours per week.
The position includes a combination of in-store responsibilities and flexible administrative hours.
