What You’ll Do:

As a Buyer with Sporting Life, you’ll lead our Lifestyle Apparel category in developing and executing business strategies that maximize sales and profitability across our stores and web channels. From curating unique assortments to leading cross-functional initiatives, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring Sporting Life stands out as a premier destination for active and stylish living.

• Develop and execute merchandising and marketing strategies for your product category across stores and online.
• Maximize profitability through strategic planning and analysis (sales, margin, inventory turn, GMROI).
• Collaborate with marketing to create compelling campaigns aligned with product and customer insights.
• Lead pricing strategies, promotional plans, and special vendor-driven sales initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to secure favorable costs and terms.
• Evaluate vendor performance to ensure alignment with business goals and profitability targets.
• Partner with Inventory Planners to achieve optimal stock levels, turn rates, and GMROI.
• Oversee product life cycles, including markdowns, returns, and aged inventory management.
• Coach, mentor, and develop your team, including Merchandising Analysts and Associate Buyers.
• Collaborate across teams to drive innovation and execute category initiatives.

What You'll Bring;

• Post-secondary education in merchandising, business, or economics (university preferred).
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in category management, procurement, and vendor relations within retail.
• 3–5 years of managerial experience, with a proven ability to lead and inspire teams.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to adapt to dynamic business needs.
• A sharp analytical mind paired with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Passion for customer service and a keen understanding of fashion and sports trends.
Proficiency with PC tools and excellent communication skills.
