Work tip of the week:

How to prepare for a job interview (and beat nerves). An upcoming job interview sending you into a panic? Don’t stress—recruiter Christie Lohr from Style Nine to Five has you covered.

Prepare. Two interview topics are guaranteed: Why you want to work for their company and how you fit the job description. Ace your answers by researching the company and ID’ing the key responsibilities from the job posting to speak specifically about why you’re a great fit.

De-stress. Deep breathing or calming meditation techniques help you show up feeling centered. Alternatively, pump yourself up and turn nerves into enthusiasm. Blast your favorite hype song for a mini dance party before a phone or video interview to shake nerves and boost confidence.

Recover. Embrace imperfection! A shaky voice or stumbling over a few words is normal, and hiring managers know you’re human. Bounce back with positive body language: Adjust your posture to project confidence, catch your breath, and finally, don’t forget to smile!

Pro tip: Sticky notes with key points placed around the edge of your laptop can be a lifesaver if you’re afraid of blanking.
