HBO’s buzzed-about hit, Girls, will be back for season 3 on January 12th. Big changes are in store for each character, leaving fans (like myself) wondering if the girls are starting to become women. Their wardrobes are certainly looking more grown-up this time around! Read on to learn how to mimic your favorite girl’s look:
Shoshanna
The innocent younger cousin of Jessa gained some life experience in season 2- and her wardobe is starting to reflect that. The quintessential girly-girl, Shoshanna lives in dresses. The frillier and fuller-cut, the better! Girly accessories like perals, floral studs, and the perfect lip gloss are ways to copy her signature style. But, in season three, Shoshanna is swapping out her tried-and-true pinks and pastels for more sophisticated hues like cream, navy and olive. Choosing ultra-feminine silhouettes in these unexpected shades allows for a more grown-up look that isn’t so sickeningly sweet. Oh, if you really want to nail her look, don’t forget to add a pair of glamazon shades to spy on that dweeby ex-boyfriend Ray: Shosh wears hers all through the season 3 trailer.

Jessa
The ultimate boho chick, Jessa finally returns in season 3 from her wandering adventures. It looks like she lost those awful ugg boots on the way too, thank goodness! To dress like Jessa, fearlessly blend styles, textures and eras for a “more is more” look. She’s made printed capes and kimonos her signatures, so try wearing one in place of a cardigan or blazer. Jessa loves showing skin! Take a leaf from her sartorial book and try a crop top. Paired with bright velvet pants, it creates a chaotic yet chic look that is Jessa’s trademark. Finish your look with some unexpected jewelry from a craft fair or your most recent vacation!

Marnie
If you watched last season, you watched Marnie’s life fall apart in a slow-burn. “I’m fine!” she shrilly cries in the season 3 trailer, convincing absolutely nobody. Her style reflects her inner turmoil: the once polished-and-perfect Marnie now looks like a crumpled, torn page from a J. Crew catalog (still amazing, but just a biiit off). Mimic her look by swapping dress pants for distressed boyfriend jeans and a graphic tee. Her old perfectionist self shines through in bold jewlery and razor-sharp stillettos- pair them with your jeans and tee to create the perfect contrast that is the new Marnie.

Hannah
Back together with Adam and wearing separates- is it possible that the loveable screw-up Hannah is starting to get it together? It’s too soon to say yet, but one thing is for sure: With a chic new crop haircut the queen of the “shorteralls” has finally graduated into grown-up clothes. To look like Hannah, stock your closet with hipster staples: oxford shoes, full skirts in unexpected fabrics, and oversized floral print blouses. The glam earrings that she wears throughout the season 3 trailer add a shot of chic to her hipster look.
