Fashion Jobs Montreal – The Long and (Bermuda) Short of It

S9T5bermuda

After summers of micro-mini shorts that left little to the imagination, women everywhere can breathe again: Bermudas are back. They were a prominent feature of Marc Jacob’s S/S ’14 show, re-imagined in amazing Gothic-Hawaiian prints. Just goes to show that the humble Bermuda can shed it’s “Grandma on Vacation” image when done right!

This is great news, as they are a naturally flattering shape for nearly any body type. Their almost-knee-length hem hides cellulite with ease and are even office appropriate (in casual workplaces, natch). They also offer the perfect foil to the bare-it-all crop tops and bralets that are ruling the style scene right now: pair them together to avoid showing too much skin!

To avoid slipping into granny territory, be sure to avoid pairs made with polyester. Also, don’t even think of touching elastic-waist styles, ever! Sharp tailoring is what this version of the Bermuda is all about, so make sure yours have a good shape and fit like a glove.

Take Bermudas to the office with a button-up blouse, blazer and slingbacks. It’ll keep you from melting in the heat the way most work wear does in the summer! For fun after dark, try Bermudas in a fun fabric. I love these leather Madwell ones – they’re a chic and bold paring with a basic striped crop top.

Looking to update your casual style for summer? A slinky tee with Bermudas  in a fun print is an easy look to throw together that still packs a style punch.
