Fashion Jobs – Mentorship

I always look back at my career and think of all those who made a mark in my life. Whether it was mentoring, teaching me a better way to do something or saying something so simple that I now use as my life motto, “Excellence is our goal”. This one little sentence has stuck with me all these years and was said to me by my District Manager, Curtis, when I was a Store Manager for a Canadian retailer. We all have these people in our lives who become our mentors. I hope to be this for some of you through Style Nine to Five and Beauty Nine to Five.

Over the years, we’ve had a stellar team of Fashion Writers and Editors here at Style Nine to Five bringing you the latest in all things fashion. It was great to have worked and mentored these talented individuals. Gaining a lot of experience is key to make it in any industry, so read up on how these writers have moved on to big and exciting projects:

Caitlin Agnew

Caitlin was first a contributing writer for ChristieLohr.com (my first online venture years ago), then Style Nine to Five once it was launched in 2010. She developed her own writing style early on and soon became one of my strongest talents. Balancing her freelance writing/editing and internships at prestigious magazine companies (FASHION and Flare!) ultimately led her to the coveted role as Assistant Editor/Research at FASHION Magazine.

Valerie Tiu

Like Caitlin, Valerie was also with me from the start as one of my first writers. After showing growth and improvement in her writing, I offered her the opportunity to be my Blog Editor. Balancing many different hats, Valerie continues her fashion writing, styling, marketing, PR, and is currently the Fashion Editor at Vancouver Is Awesome.

Elizabeth Pryde

Elizabeth started as a Fashion Writer for Style Nine to Five. As the Nine to Five companies grew, so did the editorial team, and Elizabeth was promoted to a much-deserved role as Managing Editor for both Style Nine to Five and Beauty Nine to Five. Elizabeth is now working on her own writing projects, as well as managing and writing for international fashion websites.

Chloe Berge

Chloe was one of our Fashion Writers at Style Nine to Five while interning for popular publications such as Vitamin Daily, Sweetspot.ca, and Elle Canada. Today, Chloe is the Digital Assistant Editor at House & Home Media.

Sara Constantineau

Currently a contributing writer for Style Nine to Five, Sara has a lot of editorial experience having completed multiple internships with Vitamin Daily and FLARE magazine. As an experienced writer, Sara has worked for The Shopping Channel as an Online Copywriter and more recently at Best Buy as a Product Content Copywriter.

So this just goes to show you, take opportunities that comes your way, you never know where it will take you. And no matter the role, big or small, if you work hard enough, you will be noticed and doors will start to open.
