Montreal Fashion Jobs – Beat the January Blues

The New Year is officially in full swing and we are finally calming down after celebrating all of December’s holiday festivities. With Christmas out of the way, it is amazing how fast we allow ourselves to fall into a depression and are already moping that there is nothing to do in January. There is nothing really to look forward to until, well, spring! Already, everyone is starting to crave sunshine and long weekends away with friends but it’s still ages away. I now truly understand why some of our grandparents turn into snowbirds and fly off down south for a few months right after the New Year. For those of you who are lucky enough to escape, here are some essentials before hopping on that plane. And for the rest of you, including myself, there is nothing wrong with buying a few things ahead of time. It’ll keep you preoccupied and before you know it, spring will be here. If you get really impatient buy a few a blow up palm trees, set up a few towels on the ground, lie down and close your eyes. Your imagination will become your ultimate getaway!

Everyone needs the perfect tote to pack their essentials for the plane. I personally like to carry a few extra pieces in my totes incase my luggage is lost or is accidentally thrown onto another plane. This tote by Sneha Varma is the perfect carry on and can also be used as a weekender bag.

Speaking of packing extra pieces in your carryon, I always like having an extra bathing suit with me. If there is one thing I hate, that’s not having something to swim in the minute I arrive at a resort. Once I’m checked in, I go straight for the beach and sun bathe as much as I can before heading out for dinner and cocktails. This bright yellow two-piece by Miu Miu will add even more extra rays on the beach.

Personally I’m not a huge fan of beach bags only because I have a tendency to get too much sand inside. For me, the simpler the better. Baggu is great for making fashionable but durable bags for the beach. I personally like the sailor stripes but you can buy them in many different colours from neon to electric poppy.

We all need that perfect dress to throw over our bathing suit, or, if you’re like me, use your dress more than once on a vacation. If you’re on a budget, but of course, you still want to be very fashion forward on your trip, this adorable mint and white ditsy floral surplice dress from Forever 21 is the way to go. I have definitely gone past those days when I needed to have a different dress for every night when going out with my girlfriends while away. Now, it’s all about smart packing and to be honest, we all know to buy dresses to wear more than once if we can. Resorts are the perfect places to repeat a look a few times. You’re there to relax and wearing something twice or even three times will not be considered a crime, trust me!
