Toronto Fashion Jobs – LG Fashion Week

“Canada Cool”, was the FDCC’s (Fashion Design Council of Canada) theme for the 13th year and 25th season of Toronto’s LG Fashion Week. The brisk October weather made it easy for fashionistas to bring out their fur and strut their stuff. The experience was exhilarating the second you walk through the doors and entered the black, white, and red themed tents in David Pecaut Square.

Canada’s amazing talents showcased their Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Some great pieces were seen at ATTITUDE by Jay Manuel, which will have all the ladies flocking to Sears for headscarves and colourful summer dresses. Sunny Fong’s whimsical garments, like the must have fairy dress, looked as light as a feather floating down the runway in the Vawk show. One must not forget about Arthur Mendonca’s lovely black and white silhouettes. From Lala Berlin’s graphic jumpers and punches of pink, to Laura Siegel’s amazingly constructed boho chic pastel combinations, the delights of fashion week allowed for a girl to dream about a new wardrobe for the upcoming season.

The week would not be complete without an infamous celebrity sighting or a shoulder rub with some fashion icons. Model extraordinaire Stacey McKenzie complimented my faux fur muff, while I exchanged some friendly words with sassy vocalist Jully Black. Oh, who can forget about the beautiful Jessica Stam? The Canadian model was the celebrity judge for the Mercedes Benz designer competition.

Creativity and energy was at an all time high this season. From the front to the back row, the crowds were devouring all the inspired collections. If only spring would come sooner….
