🍂 A Day in the Life of a Buyer at @mineandyours 🍂 A Day in the Life of a Buyer at @mineandyoursco, featuring Jiahui Chen.

Ever wondered what a day as a luxury resale buyer actually looks like?

No two days are exactly the same, but here’s a glimpse into a typical day:

✨ 9:00 AM: Head out for a private closet buy, meeting with a client to evaluate and curate pieces for consignment.

✨ 11:30 AM: Back in the store to review new drop-offs, authenticate luxury items, and assess what will resonate with our clients.

✨ 1:30 PM: Research current trends, monitor the luxury market, and identify the brands, styles, and investment pieces gaining momentum for Fall/Winter 2026.

✨ 3:00 PM: Source exceptional handbags, ready-to-wear, accessories, and fine jewellery that will become tomorrow’s most sought-after arrivals.

✨ 4:30 PM: Connect with clients, discuss consignments, and build relationships that keep incredible luxury pieces circulating.

🍂 While most people are enjoying summer, Chen is already thinking about fall. That’s the reality of luxury resale. We’re always looking one season ahead.

Every piece Chen brings in is carefully selected with longevity in mind, helping exceptional luxury find its next owner and remain in circulation.

If you’re interested in joining the Mine & Yours team, even if they’re not currently hiring for your ideal role, you can apply through their Join the Team listing.

You landed the interview... but not the job.

It’s frustrating, especially when you know you had the experience.

The truth is, getting an interview means your resume did its job. What happens next is often what determines whether you get the offer.

After working with fashion brands and hiring managers across Canada, we’ve seen the same patterns come up again and again. From interview answers to follow-up emails, the small things can make a big difference.

Swipe through for 5 reasons you may have missed out on the job, and what you can do differently next time.

Pivoting into fashion from a different industry? 👀 Yes, transferable skills matter, but that’s obvious at this point. So what else can you actually do to stand out? Here’s exactly what founder and leading fashion recruiter @christie_lohr looks for on your resume 👇

If you don’t have direct fashion experience, that’s okay, but you need to show you’re tapped in:

✨ Any fashion-related certificates count (the LVMH Certificate is worth looking into)
✨ Had a retail job years ago? Put it back on your resume. It matters more than you think
✨ Passion project or a little fashion Instagram? Add it. Followers don’t matter, relevance does

And don’t sleep on your cover letter. She once had the same applicant apply to the same role 8 months apart; the first time she wrote a generic “thanks for your consideration,” message, the second time was about being a longtime Style Nine to Five follower and exactly why she wanted in. And guess what? She got an interview the second time.

One more tip: create a “relevant skills” or “relevant experience” section at the very top of your resume, tailored to the exact role you’re applying for. Doesn’t need to be chronological, just needs to be first.

Make it impossible for the hiring manager to miss how much you want this. 💫

This question had parts two and three, plus a bunch more questions from our Office Hours call, so keep your eyes on our Style Nine to Five Office Hours reels. More is coming! 👀
