Technical Development Assistant - 1 Year Contract

Gentle Fawn is a women’s fashion brand that designs feminine, effortless pieces, perfect for your everyday wardrobe. Since 2003, we’ve been committed to developing quality fabrics & timeless designs, in a collaborative and creative environment. As a Technical Development assistant, you will play a pivotal role ensuring the fit and quality of our product is maintained from design to bulk production, meeting all companywide standards and critical deadlines.

LOCATION: Gentle Fawn HQ

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Track, manage and receive incoming clothing samples.
• Measure and inspect clothing samples to ensure product requirements and standards are met.
• Create and maintain spec packages for all seasonal repeat styles.
• Partner with the design team to interpret and develop production ready products meeting company’s standards and vision.
• Understand fashion design and fit intent of garment.
• Develop, update, and maintain effective spec packages, measurements, and grading.
• Communicate product requirements to the factory.
• Assist with data entry ensuring systems and processes up to date.
• Take notes in proto fittings with the design team. Ensure fitting protocol is followed.
• Learn to problem solve, communicate fit, construction, washing and fabric issues as they arise.
• Quality check for consistency in sizing, functional trims, and construction across product range.
• Collaborate with the product and production teams to troubleshoot and create future solutions.
• Organize and maintain sample library.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Fine Arts; Fashion Design & Technology.
• Experience in product development, apparel industry standards, garment fit & production appropriate construction techniques.
• Patternmaking background is an asset.
• Illustrator and Excel skills.
• Work & communicate efficiently with internal and external teams in a positive and professional manner.
• Proven work ethic- responsible, dependable, and consistent.
• Strong team player, knowledge of x-functional team accountabilities and requirements.
• Excellent organizational skills. Ability to optimize processes to meet all deadlines.
• Able to multi- task, working in a fast-past environment and prioritize effectively.
