Toronto Fashion Jobs – Neo-Victorian

Splashes of Victorian style have been making a comeback in every realm of the fashion world; from ornate jewellery, to lace boots and high necked dresses. Girly, dainty, and covered, it’s not necessarily the easiest trend to wear. The key is to pair the trend with modern pieces so you don’t look like an extra from the set of a period-drama. For example, pair a ruffled Victorian blouse with a pair of bleach dyed cutoffs and Lita boots. Use a classic stylist’s trick – the messy one pocket tuck – to achieve an even greater balance between old and new. For dresses, accessorizes with statement pieces like fedoras or belts to take away from the stuffy feeling of a floor length, high-necked dress. Victorian-inspired jewellery is a great way to inspire a refined feel to any outfit; pearls and tarnished silver are staples of this beloved trend.
