Job Description
Senior Technical Developer

Manage multiple product track development projects at various stages through design, development and start of production. Responsible for the development of assigned styles to on-time and 100% ready for commercialization; drive the development calendar management to achieve key performance indicators, in conjunction with cross-functional team members.

• Lead product team meetings and teach technical skills to other team members
• Mentor development team by sharing & maximizing best practices, new methods, concepts & functional expertise
• Develop process improvement plans at both the factory & internal creation team level Partner
• Course correct projects that fall behind schedule. Create and communicate a plan for these situations that outlines the action plan of the specific project
• With design, develop early season mock-ups and full garment prototypes
• Partner with design to complete new fabric briefs
• Advise raw material sourcing in fabric and mill selections considering development needs and cost
• With global fit, assist in creation of new pattern blocks and grading rules for innovative design ideas
• Communicate with vendors regarding contents of technical packages, including corrections to samples and patterns, garment construction details, grading, labeling and shipping requirements
• Interact on a daily basis with suppliers and vendors to problem solve all issues related to garment engineering
• Research fit trends, new construction methods, and emerging technologies for product categories
• Develop products, recommends materials, and construction techniques that meet design expectations and maximize gross margin targets
• Leverage the pattern block library to maintain a consistent fit across the product group
• Execute fit intent and consistency through clear analysis, documentation, communication, adherence to fit standards, and use of block patterns
• Create technical flat sketches, styling details, construction diagrams, and size information for new products
• Complete relevant, accurate and timely ‘bill-of-material’ information in the technical packages
• Critique, adjust and evaluate design concepts and prototypes from a performance, manufacturing, and functional perspective, extend expertise to problem solve

• Diploma required in fashion design related field
• 8-10 years of apparel industry experience in product development, garment fit & cost engineering
• Excellent ability to solve ad hoc problems throughout the development process
• Traveled to and worked on site with manufacturers across Asia, Americas and Europe
• Strong technical knowledge of performance product, fit, construction, costing and manufacturing
• Collaborative team player, knowledge of cross functional team accountabilities and requirements preferred, including design, materials, sourcing, merchandising and quality assurance
• Expert in building BOM’s, fit measurement and technical packages
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Adobe Illustrator, PLM software, Microsoft office applications and Outlook)
