What would I be responsible for?
Design & Development
-Under the direction and leadership of the Creative Director, you lead a team of design and development in executing the seasonal vision in addition to the continued evolution of core product
-Responsible for Creative Season Kick Off including but not limited to: building mockups, fabric boards, selecting tears and building presentations
-Partnering closely with Merchandising to build the seasonal line plan and hold this vision of a cohesive assortment for your team throughout the season
-Give clear, consistent and inspiring direction on silhouette, fabric, trim, technology and trend so your designers are able to create freely into the seasonal vision
-Research, ideate, sketch and create mood and fabric boards to support in communicating the creative direction and vision to your design team and cross functional partners
-Ability to apply, perform and manage design skills such as drawing/sketching, concept ideation, texture and scale
-Expert ability at pattern drawing, understanding patterns and creating 3D forms
-Partner with our sample production factories to create mockups and prototypes
-Ability to quickly and accurately communicate design vision through technical and detailed sketches
-Prepare and effectively present design concepts that communicate seasonal direction to design leadership and cross functional partners
-Responsible for the clear communication of product information so accurate technical sketches, colour legends, prototypes can be created
-Ability to communicate feedback in fittings so that style changes can be effectively executed and passion for teaching this to others
-Responsible for ensuring all styles deliver our standards of quality, beauty and function to our customer.
-Awareness of what’s happening in the athletic, streetwear and fashion industries.
-Awareness of how the line is currently performing in stores - work in the stores, lead design meetings, partner with other departments and action feedback for continual innovation of product
-Responsible for understanding the impact of your decisions on timelines and margins and for coaching other designers on the team
-Ability to travel to offshore factories and on inspiration trips as needed
-Ensure product is fully Commercial and ready for bulk production without risk of issues.
Management & Leadership
-Lead the team to execute product according to seasonal timelines; anticipate and prevent issues for the team to keep the pathway clear.
-Responsible for performance evaluations, hiring and consistent coaching of your design team
-Manage KPIs and hold accountability across the team to meet deadlines.
-Bachelor's degree in footwear design and development or other relevant degree
-10+ years of industry experience in product development and fit, with a focus in footwear
-5+ years of experience as a Manager, leading through change management
-Proven experience managing and forecasting budgets for division
-Past experience communicating with offshore factories, particularly in Asia
-Strong technical knowledge of footwear performance, fit, raw materials & construction
-Expert knowledge of all aspects of footwear design and product development process
In-depth knowledge of footwear construction methods, pattern making, fit and lasts, including last development
-Working knowledge of mold processes; from design through development
-Proven design expertise, including flat sketching
-Strong team player, knowledge of cross-functional team accountabilities and requirements preferred, including design, materials, sourcing, merchandising and quality assurance
-Strong computer skills (Excel, Adobe Illustrator, PLM software, Microsoft office applications and Outlook)
-Knowledge of product creation calendar timeline and able to work against deadlines
Experience and willingness to travel internationally up to 10% of the time

Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000 depending on experience
