What you will do:

• Flawlessly execute on production; the core of our business is the production of each garment. You will work with our Production Manager to ensure we meet all of our demand, including wholesale orders. You will do this by transforming raw materials to finished goods. You will communicate monthly and daily production goals with the Production Manager to ensure that you are able to work at full capacity, including trouble-shooting the daily hiccups that occur in a manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of garments as they leave our production facility and ensure they meet production targets. You will be the set of eyes, ears and hands on the ground with our production team on a day-to-day basis.

Who you are:

• Exceptional and transparent communicator; you are someone who is able to identify sewing problems and ask questions to uncover the problem and generate solutions to solve those issues. You’re open to feedback and able to work closely on a day-to-day basis with the President and Production Manager in a way that is focused on continuous improvement and growth.

• Proven 1-year experience on industrial sewing machine; you have proven working experience in a production setting on industrial sewing machines with the knowledge and ability to repair the machine if needed.

• Ultra-responsible and organized; you never let a ball drop. Once a task is assigned to you, your team can rely on it being completed. No matter how many balls are in the air, you have a handle for multi-tasking, and use your sense of organization to bring order to chaos.

• Self-motivated; you are someone who can take initiative and action to complete the tasks given with the ability to maintain an upbeat pace and a positive attitude.

• Passion for sustainable fashion; you have seen the fashion industry first-hand from a production perspective and feel strongly about the need for sustainability in the industry. You allow our mission and vision of the future to inspire your best work, and to help motivate the work of others.

• Able to work from or near Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Halifax is a stunning city and because our work is production based you will be required to be in our production studio 40 hours per week and be willing to work extra hours if needed. You may be thinking of applying for this role from somewhere else in the world; and you are welcome to apply if you are currently eligible to work in Canada. Should you be hired you will be responsible for relocating yourself to Halifax at your own expense. It is highly recommended to have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle as you will be responsible for getting to and from work.

Why Work with Us:

As the Sewing Technician of Fairechild, you will have a front seat at one of Canada’s fastest-growing, eco-innovative and sustainable children’s fashion brands. In addition to a salary of $12.95 - $15/hr. depending on experience and two-weeks’ vacation, this role provides you with the opportunity to help build every aspect of the Canadian-made brand. Working daily with the President, you will be able to learn and contribute to this growing organization. You will work in the beautiful province of Nova Scotia and can be proud knowing you’re helping lead an organization that passionately lives its values through every decision it makes.
