ABOUT US

A leader in outdoor fashion for kids, Jan & Jul enables kids to play outside in all weather by designing and distributing ethically produced outdoor clothing since 2008. Our products are widely distributed in specialty children’s boutiques and E-marketplaces. Many of our products are among Amazon’s Best Sellers. We are looking for a creative & organized product Assistant who shares our passion of kids, the outdoors, and ethical outdoor fashion.

Our office/warehouse is currently located in Richmond, just south of No. 6 Road and Cambie. This position will be relocated to our future location in South Burnaby’s Marine Way area in March 2023.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Product Developer will be working within the product team to assist developing new products and improving existing products. This role will be involved in all stages of the design process including but not limited to colours/prints, fabric selection, fitting, tech pack creation, sample tracking, packaging, and frequent communication with oversea pattern maker and project managers.

A DAY AT WORK

Under the guidance of our product designers, you are expected to execute functions such as:

  • Spec and analyze garments to determine compliance of measurements, workmanship, construction direction, and maintain fit intent
  • Analyze and communicate the outcome of fittings and construction reviews with designers and oversea partners
  • Support with technical drawings and tech pack creation
  • Artwork translation between English and Chinese
  • Quality control related tasks such as stock check etc

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA Degree in Fashion Design or related field
  • 0.5 to 2 years of experience working for an apparel brand
  • Superior communication skills - must be fluent in both English and Chinese
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word/Outlook)
  • Knowledge of fitting, pattern making, fabrication, sewing techniques, colorways, graphics, technical design, and product development
  • An understanding in shoes/ accessories design would be a plus

JOB TYPE:

Full-time, Permanent

  • 40 hours/week M - F.
  • This position must be available to work the occasional evening and/or on the weekends to meet production timeline
