Description

Under the direction of the Senior Product Manager, the incumbent of this position will design and manage the development of several collections of ophthalmic frames and sunglasses.

Location:  This position is located in the TURA, Inc., office, New York, NY.  Candidates must be within commuting distance of this location.  The duties will not be performed remotely.

 

Position Responsibilities:

Oversees all design and development processes and marketing for assigned collectionsCommunicates with suppliers from concept to delivery of productAnalyzes market data and sales results to determine trends and strategiesReviews design drawings, prototypes, and stages of production for proper design specifications and timely product deliveryInterfaces with market to deliver on-message promotion for each brandNegotiates pricing for new frame models based on design elements, manufacturing techniques, materials, and margin goalsComplete all necessary administrative work including data entry, report preparation, product release calendars, and other product documents required for timely production and adherence to the designs.

 

Qualification Requirements:  

Must have 2+ years of experience in hard accessories product development–optical/eyewear experience is preferred. This will include experience in designing and developing product from conception to delivery to customerBachelor’s degree in a field of design is preferredExperience in directing free-lance designersAbility to read and interpret CAD drawings, including an ability to understand 3-D objects in a 2-D formatSourcing experience with vendors in China is helpfulAbility to manage multiple priorities and projectsPrecise and accurate written and verbal communications skillsStrong negotiation skills and an understanding of the relationship of price and productEffective time management skills and the ability to work with multiple prioritiesAbility to meet physical requirement noted below.

Have strong people skills and be able to foster positive relationshipsBe able to conduct market research and analyze sales dataBe able to execute a business plan regarding price points, classification and stylingEnjoy critical thinking and formulating successful solutions

Physical Requirements:  The position involves periods of sitting at a desk, but can also involve lengthy periods of standing, as well as bending, reaching, lifting, walking, carrying and lifting up to 30 pounds.  The incumbent may assist others in setting up a booth at trade shows. Manual dexterity is required for data entry.

 

Travel:  The position requires periods of domestic and international travel approximately 3-4 times a year.

Salary:  $60,000 – $65,000 a year       Position classification:  Exempt
