Montreal Fashion Jobs – Shoulder to Shoulder

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

In a world where showing cleavage and midriffs is considered sexy, this fall, there is a new body part that is stealing the show: shoulders.

The demure look of the sexy shoulder has been represented in many different ways. Some retailers are opting to use mesh around the collar area, whereas others have completely removed the material that would cover the shoulders. This is a look that is sensual in the most casual of ways. The bit of exposed shoulder will turn any outfit into a piece that is ready for a night out. The only issue with a sexy shoulder is that you need to have an appropriate bra. However, once you find a strapless that is comfortable, you’ll be able to wear this look with ease.

This fall, looking demurely sexy can be easy just by adding an exposed shoulder to your wardrobe.

Calgary Fashion Jobs – Menswear Chic

Thursday, September 19th, 2013

Ever since it was a style that helped to start a revolution in the 1980s, a menswear aesthetic has been prominent in women’s fashion. However, gone are the days of massive shoulder pads, because the new masculine style is designed for a lady.

The most prominent features of a menswear style are the cut, and the material. Typically, they have larger silhouettes, pleats and higher necklines. The materials are also thicker, and textures like tweed, houndstooth and twill are predominately used. This season, designers have updated the classic male look, and made it applicable for women everywhere. Feminine shapes, empire waists, cropped pants and colour have all been added to the style. Menswear is very easy to incorporate into everyday life, and it can be taken from a party to the office very easily. Just remember that you are a woman, and make sure that you dress for your body.

Vancouver Fashion Jobs – Biker Chic

Sunday, September 8th, 2013

Black is a go-to colour that can be worn easily, and with everything. If there is one style that can make black look high fashion, it’s the biker chic genre.

There have been many reinventions of a biker-esque style. Regardless if designers are throwing back to a traditional leather inspiration, or if they have updated the look into modern times, the biker aesthetic is a classic. Typically, the components of this fashion are leather, boots, messy hair, studs and of course, a lot of black. This fall, you can update the traditional look by incorporating a sassy graphic tee, or by having a modern silhouette on a biker jacket.

One thing is for sure, looking biker chic this fall will be easy, and with a little bit of black and some attitude, you’ll be a badass in no time.

Toronto Fashion Jobs – California Love

For years, the easy-living style inspired by the people of California has been revered. There are many tutorials on how to achieve the perfect Cali hair and makeup, and this season, the fashion sense of the West coast has come into the spotlight. Determining what the California style is can be tricky. The primary components of it would be: neon colours, prints, jean shorts and metallics. When it comes to Cali style, it is best to remember that the outfits should be effortless, and should have a relaxed beachy vibe to them. Although these pieces may be difficult to wear when you’re not hanging out on the Venice Beach strip, incorporating certain aspects of the style should be easy. Metallics and neons can be easily paired with jeans or other neutrals. Bright prints work best on a dress, and the recent rise of the high-waisted jean short makes it easy to pair it with a crop top or a tucked in tee. This season, wearing California inspired style is as easy as hanging out on the beach enjoying the surfers and the sun.

I remember watching old episodes of Beverly Hills 90210, and making fun of their horrible style choices. Neon colours and high waisted cut offs? yuck… but as of late I’ve been singing to a different tune. All the fun of the early 90’s is back, (ok not all, but that’s a good thing) and better than ever. We’ve seen the bright colours, geometric shapes, and the biggest trend of them all, high waisted cut offs. With their cool, stylish demeanor, everyone has been rocking them this summer, including me. They’re fun and super easy to accessorize. With a wide variety of colours and patterns, this summer trend will have you showing off your stems all season long.

Edmonton Fashion Jobs – Straight from the Garden

Bacon and lettuce’s best friend, tomato, hasn’t always had a fair shake. After years of being left out of the fashion world, finally tomato has been given the opportunity to be showcased and to shine. Although the colour may be difficult to initially describe, tomato is defined as red based with a tinge of orange.

This season, tomato has been popping up in many different areas, from outerwear to accessories, making an easy addition of new colour to your wardrobe. In the summer, having a pop of colour is always a fun way to update your look, and why not step outside of the box with something different and unique? However, since tomato items are statement pieces on their own, it would be best to keep all other colours neutral by pairing tomato with beige, white and black. If you are truly an adventure seeker, you can also colour block tomato and mix it with shades of blue and green. With the number of options retailers have provided, even if you tend to shy away from bright colours, you can add interest through accessories such as shoes, bags and jewelry. This summer tomato is no longer just a fruit in your salad, it can be your go to piece for stunning colour.

Vancouver Fashion Jobs – Airport Travel Style

Friday, June 21st, 2013

It’s that time of the year again, the season of flights and destinations all around. We’ve all been there before, the long tedious line-ups, the security checks and of course the strenuous bumpy plane rides. Flight travels can be weary and tiring, that’s why it’s always important to dress prepared for the unexpected conditions while travelling. The airport style is all about the oversized, chunky sweater, loose-fitted tank, large handbag tote, comfortable flats and light scarf to give an effortlessly comfortable look while still looking trendy during your long flight. In the end, after the long hours of waiting and pulling the weight of your luggage, believe me, it’s all worth it when you finally step out of the plane and arrive to your destination of travel.

Fashion Careers – Swimwear Trends

Thursday, June 13th, 2013

Tired of seeing those typical bikinis and one piece bathing suits that scream boring and no creativity to them? The catwalks push the limits and I have happy to say that this summer swimwear is taking a leap into an exciting new direction. I live for the sun and palm trees where a book and a nice tall iced tea is all I need to spend a day soaking up some rays. Known for my simple strapless teeny weeny bikinis, for the very first time, I am willing to risk getting funny tan lines for the sake of fashion! This season patterns, unique cuts and exquisite materials are all the rage from designers all over. A true fashionista would not know where to begin when choosing this summer’s top looks – there are just too many to choose from. Clearly bringing just two or three bathing suits on vacation is WAY over rated!

1) H&M Bandeau with Tooth Pendant, $34.95
2) Urban Outfitters Minimale Animal, $288.00
3) Free People Daisy Crochet Bikini Top, $90.66
4) Anthropologie Marysia Molokai Swimsuit, $285.00

Vancouver Fashion Jobs – Summer Acccessories

Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

Summer time is the one season you are truly able to express your individual style without having to cover up with layers upon layers of winter garb (since Canada really only has two seasons). Whether your style is bohemian, glam or vintage, we all share one common ground, accessories. There is no better way to express your true style than with a few fun pieces and this summer, we have plenty to choose from. One fashion crime that many people commit –I’ll admit I’ve done it too- is adding way too many accessories to your outfit. People shouldn’t hear you coming from a mile away, so remember what your mother always told you, and always take two pieces off before leaving the door. Adding a simple statement necklace or a headpiece to your outfit could defiantly take your look from ordinary to extraordinary without all the extra baggage. So this summer, have fun with your look by mixing and matching some of the season’s hottest trends in jewelry.

1. Forever 21 Colour blocked pyramid bracelet $6.80
2. Forever 21 Cut out filigree cuff $5.80
3. H&M Hair decoration $6.95
4. Urban Outfitters Sunrise geo necklace $18
5. H&M Necklace $14.95
6. Sweet Harriet Golden bowtie necklace $31.39

Calgary Fashion Jobs – Summer Workout Gear

Monday, June 3rd, 2013

Summer time always seems to sneak up on us, especially when it comes to our diets and workout routines. Before we know it, its bikini season and we’re still trying to shed those pesky holiday pounds. It’s been said that purchasing active wear that you love, will motivate you to hit the gym or participate in some seasonal outdoor activities. If you’re anything like me, you want to look cute no matter what the activity is, even if you’re just hitting the gym, so why not opt for some cute workout wear that will get you up and off the couch and looking adorable.

Many of our favourite retail brands also sell active wear for a fraction of the cost of any sporting good company –and are sometimes much cuter too. Check out stores like American Eagle, Forever 21, or H&M for pieces that will help you look fabulous all the way to the beach.

2. Forever 21 tribal print skinny workout pants, $23.80
