a day in the life of the VP Merchandising
• Create a global assortment that meets all the agreed upon strategies by country and financial targets
• Can effectively partner with design to bring strategies to life for the brand
• Review daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual selling reports to identify assortment opportunities and risks as well as gain big-picture insight
• Builds out long term strategies with a 3 to 5 year horizon
• Competitive Research and Analysis – Has strong grasp of competitive and market place trends through market place research and connecting whitespace land ambassador insights
• Strategic interpretation of market trends
• Builds strong cross functional relationships and develops a strong leadership team
• Attract, retain, and develop world class merchandising team
• Motivate and inspire strong performance through practice of leadership
• Embodies and Exemplifies company values in his/her decision-making and daily interactions
• Effective and strong communication skills to compel and influence large and diverse groups of people

The finer print
• BBA or MBA, fashion / merchandising
• 10-15 years’ experience in merchandising with a minimum of 5 in a vertical retail environment, and 5 in an internationally operating company
• 10+ years experience working with fashion retailers with a focus on accessories
• 10+ years experience directly managing Merchandising teams and forging relationships with cross-functional partners.
• Understand and stay on top of trends in the market place and has a taste level that is aspirational
• Strong analytical skills
• Exceptional cross functional relationship building skills and able to facilitate creative conflict
• Strong production understanding allowing for keen awareness regarding potential challenges in the development of new ideals whether it be fabric or products
• Excellent taste level with the ability to interpret current trends that appeals to the lululemon guest.
• Demonstrates excellent analytical capabilities including the ability to analyze and report on data
