Pattern Maker

Looking to hire a Pattern Maker, Grader, Marker Maker. During development periods the responsibilities will be to create 1st Samples through both manual and computer pattern making for new designs for the season. This position is also responsible for grading of patterns, using PAD CAD System and creating all production Markers. Responsible and accountable for following established sizing standards by using existing grade rules and whenever necessary, creating new grade rules to support the fit and styling of the garments. It is also Pattern Maker’s responsibility to check patterns & style for accuracy. Markers are tailored to specific Purchase Orders with some requiring customized Pattern adjustments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Creating and developing 1st sample patterns through draping and manual pattern making skills and PAD CAD System
• Creating and updating sample and production markers in the PAD CAD System
• Digitizing all patterns created manually and checking them for accuracy and the standards are all met
• Grading of new patterns.
• Creating markers for best material utilization while respecting pattern and fabric quality boundaries
• Updating grading of existing patterns as necessary.
• Following Production Schedule to complete all grading and grading verification on time.
• Check patterns prior to grading for accuracy.
• Calculating yields for costing and material ordering purposes
• Working closely with Designer & Creative Director to achieve the desired look of the garments.
• Provide sizing information for trims as needed.
• Ensure consistency of sewing construction through sampling during new developments
• Responsible for the maintenance of plotters
• Other tasks as assigned by Designer or Creative Director.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, DESIGNATIONS: 
• College Degree or Diploma in apparel design and manufacturing
• 5 plus years experience in pattern making
• 5 plus years experience in marker making
• 2-3 years experience using PAD System, experience with other CAD systems an asset
• 2-3 years experience working with cutters
• 2 plus years of experience in grading

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of sewing is mandatory.
• Experience with women’s wear and jackets/outerwear is an asset.
• Ability to work independently, with little supervision.
• Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Should be organized, detail oriented, team player, multi task oriented.
• Effective communication & interpersonal skills required to build relationships across the business.
• Able to meet tight deadlines.
• Working in an open concept environment.
