JOB DESCRIPTION
As the successful candidate, you will be involved with buying and sales. From your involvement on the sales floor you will gather customer intelligence to inform major buying decisions. With market information gathered from research, you will report on design trends and emerging brands to be investigated by management. Your recommendations can have major influence over the direction of future collections and Due West’s marketing campaigns.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Work with management in the buying process for women’s wear.

•Act as liaison between DW and vendors.

•Create vendor-related correspondence dealing with new brand inquiries.

•Review sales reports, analyze sell-through and make recommendations for sales and promotions.

•Attend vendor meetings, write meeting notes, shoot product photos and prepare briefs for internal discussion.

•Apply the following forms of intelligence to the buying decision process:

1. customer preferences and behaviour – gathered from your direct sales floor experience

2. vendor requirements – gathered from vendor discussions and correspondence

3. retail trends and brand information – gathered from market research

•Provide sell-through information to selected vendors on an ad hoc basis.

•Assist with purchase order preparation.

•Assist with visual merchandising.

REQUIREMENTS
•Full-time

•Minimum 3 years experience in sales (boutique retail experience is an asset)

•Trained/Experienced in fashion buying function at assistant level is an asset

•Excellent fashion sense; knowledge of leading brands; awareness of emerging brands

•Highly organized; strong work ethic; excellent communicator; collaborative; self-starter

•Exhibits personal style consistent with Due West brand (see www.duewest.ca)

•Adept at using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (including calendar).

•Able to work with data to draw customer insights, identify inventory problems and buying opportunities.

•Able to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle priorities.
