In this temporary position, the Industrial Designer (ID) will be responsible for supporting the Herschel Retail Industrial Design team with a variety of tasks and responsibilities.

Serving as the primary conduit between retail, marketing and wholesale partners, the ID will be involved with a variety of global and domestic projects related to the buildout of retail spaces, conception and design of manuals, catalogues and other design-related activities as required.

This role will report to the Director of Retail as part of the Retail Team - Global.


On a day-to-day basis, the ID will:


Design and develop new fixtures and displays to regularly improve the product display for all levels of retail
Create concepts for seasonal window displays which can be adapted to a variety of international markets
Design and develop special exhibitions to showcase products in retail and tradeshow environments
Create complete design concept packages for new store locations, including floor plans, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, merchandising fixtures, custom millwork, and new storefronts.
Space planning, design effective store programs to enhance customer experience and support store operations.
Assist in the design of non-retail new interior spaces and custom millwork items as required

Create detailed drawings in PDF format as necessary for communicating the design intent and/or construction, as required.
Create 3D models and renderings of design concepts to communicate design intent to international partners.
Create detailed construction drawings for new retail fixtures and POP displays to the responsible manufacturing partner
Provide detailed specifications and reference documentation for all lighting, finishes, signage, store fixtures etc.

Maintain organization of all project files and reference documentation per departmental procedures.


Strong understanding of the Herschel Supply Co. Brand and ability to create and maintain relationships with customer base through the creation of market leading brand experiences
2-4 years’ experience in industrial design, interior design, or exhibit design
Proficient with 3D CAD modelling software, Rhino 3D highly preferred
Ability to read architectural floor plans and elevations
Intermediate level of proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
Experience with both metric and imperial dimensioning; reading and creating spec-files using the client's native preferences
Comprehensive understanding of construction practices, fabrication methods and materials common in architecture, interior design and exhibit design
Ability to to create, understand and translate three dimensional space concepts into conceptual drawings
Hands-on fabrication and prototyping experience an asset
Excellent verbal and visual communication skills.
Experience in visual merchandising an asset.
Ability to multi-task, working on multiple projects with strict timelines
Comfortable with team-based work structure and the ability to work independently
Strong organizational and problem solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to work in a face paced, continuously changing environment
An eye for style and interest in fashion and design
