a day in the life of a design director

• Create the overall vision and design direction of Women's and responsible through all phases of product design and development –beautiful, premium and functional apparel that solves sweaty athletic problems (leading edge in comfort, fit, quality and performance)
• Identify innovation, opportunities and trends to create a roadmap and strategy for the line – partner with raw materials, merchandising, development and sourcing on ensuring we have world class partners in place and execute
• Direct a team of designers and graphic artists – in season and pre season team – and coach on design ethos, 4 F’s, branding, and design process
• Build a high performance team and pipeline of designers
• Collaborate with brand on product story telling
• Global travel for trend research, tradeshows and product development
• Work on the retail floor – 2 x per month – connecting with guests/athletes to elevate our product

• Diploma in Fine Arts, Design, or textile sciences
• 7+ years of industry experience in global apparel design
• 5+ years experience leading and managing teams and setting creative vision with a global apparel company
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, patterns and textiles required
• Proven leadership to inspire, lead and oversee a team to design and develop a cohesive line
• You create space for others to be their best selves and achieve outstanding results
• You execute like an owner – calendar and margin aware
• Willingness to be in wonderment and to learn
