Description

Job purpose: As the Director, Lifestyle Design, you will lead lifestyle Designers focused on product to strengthen the Arc’teryx brand identity by providing fresh and resolved design solutions while maintaining consistent application of Arc’teryx design values.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities: (including but not limited to)

•Collaborate with the Design Director to establish ongoing performance and creative direction for the category
•Guide the development of performance and creative initiatives across multiple design teams to ensure cohesive application of defined product direction
•Coordinate the validation and application of new technologies and construction techniques to relevant product categories
•Collaborate with Apparel Design Director, Design reports, and Product Line Managers, to build seasonal range plans that will drive the growth of the category
•Work with Product and Operations teams to refine the design and development process
•Guide Design teams and manage the design process for seasonal and long term design projects from concept through commercialization and on time delivery
•Build, coach and guide multiple Designers to create comprehensive and innovative technologies, construction methods and component development solutions that are in-line with Arc’teryx design values, customer needs and company goals
•Lead Designers to bring new and better toolbox solutions that benefit the brand (e.g. technologies, construction methods, component development)
•Present new product lines at internal reviews and sales meetings
•Collaborate with Product Line Managers, Marketing, and Sales to ensure that key product developments are being communication internally and to the market

Additional experience, education and/or skills:

Required
•You have a Degree in Apparel Design, Industrial Design or Textile Engineering
•You have 10+ years hands-on experience designing technical apparel and/or performance apparel products in the outdoor industry, preferably textile based, including experience coming up with tools and methods to assist in solving construction issues
•You have 5+ years of experience leading and managing creative teams
•You have a keen interest in technical equipment or apparel and its application to a variety of outdoor activities
•You are able to travel 4-6 times a year as required
•You set a clear vision, align your team around common objectives, and foster commitment to these objectives
•You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
•You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
•You are able to balance autonomy and collaboration
