Yorkville Hosts Toronto Fashion Week
The three-day event was held in Toronto’s Yorkville Village, marking the first time this fall/winter fashion week has taken place inside a shopping centre. Several brands held pop-ups inside the centre, giving consumers the chance to purchase designer’s goods fresh off the runway. The large shopping mall was transformed into a unique space including a large runway, a lounge and open spaces for guests to mingle. A diverse variety of designers were showcased through runway shows, studio presentations, interviews and pop-ups such as Gersha Phillips, Bojana Sentaler, Narces, Hilary MacMillan and Mani Jassal.

Christian Dior Expands in Vancouver
As Vancouver’s Holt Renfrew continues with updates and renovations, the Christian Dior boutique is the most recent to undertake changes. The expansion of the space makes it the largest Dior accessory boutique in the country. The new location is immediate to the left from Holt’s Granville entrance, drawing attention upon arrival. Offering a much larger space and an exclusive “Lady Dior” handbag could offer the luxury store an advantage over competition from other large retailers carrying Dior in the area.

Designer Shoe Warehouse to open 3 new Canadian locations
Ontario will be welcoming two new DSW stores along with one in Edmonton this coming spring. The addition of these three Canadian locations will bring this well-liked shoe company to 27 stores nationally. All three stores will feature the DSW kids and accessories lines. The two Ontario locations are expected to open on March 1st, one in Trinity Commons and the other in RioCan Durham Centre. Edmonton will follow not far behind, opening to an excited public at the Premium Outlet Collection in Edmonton International Airport on May 2nd

Stores gearing up to celebrate Year of the Dog
Many retailers are celebrating this Lunar New Year – the Year of the Dog, hosting events and honouring traditions. Nordstrom in Vancouver’s Pacific Centre will be graced by “Lucky the Lion” for a colourful performance today on Level 1. Oakridge Centre is kicking off their fourth annual Lunar Fest with figurines built by artists with Year of the Dog influence. The cute and cuddly figurines will be placed in storefront windows for the duration of the event and will be for sale after February 25th, with proceeds being donated to the SPCA.
