Fashion Jobs - Style Nine to Five in Canada Fashion Careers

Aritzia to significantly expand Bloor Street West store in Toronto
The widely recognized Canadian retailer has announced it is taking over space on both sides of Toronto’s Holt Renfrew Centre and renovating to become one of the company’s largest stores. The current 4900 square foot space will be undergoing a full renovation, bringing it up to date with the company’s new look as well as merging the space with the unoccupied BCBG and former Holt Renfrew Centre entrance.  

 

Miniso opened its fifth Metro Vancouver location on Monday
The millennial-targeted lifestyle brand set up shop in the heart of Kerrisdale, its fifth location following West Broadway, Granville Street, Robson Street and Tsawwassen Mills. The company, which was co-founded in 2013 by Japanese designer Miyake Junya and Chinese entrepreneur Ye Guofu carries a wide range of products including accessories, electronics, health & beauty, home necessities, lifestyle and even stationary. Miniso has been rapidly expanding and opening up stores globally. They are expected to operate between 30 and 50 Canadian stores by the end of 2018.  

 

Victoria to host SHINE Fashion Show benefit
This Sunday, the iconic Crystal Ballroom at the Empress hotel in downtown Victoria will be filled with fashionable folk from all around the island. The event which will be hosted by Love It or List It Vancouver’s  Todd Talbot and his wife, actress  Rebecca Talbot. The event includes a “bubbly reception”, a social mixer with a silent auction, afternoon tea with guest speakers and a strolling fashion show. Spring 2018 collections from designers Micheal Kors, Karl Lagerfeld, Alex S. Yu, and Canadian fashion designer, Conally McDougall will be showcased. All net proceeds from this elegant afternoon will be donated to BC Children’s hospital.  

 

Deciem opens its first West Coast location on Wednesday
The Hastings and Howe Street store will be the first in Vancouver for this Canadian beauty company, followed by a second location in Metrotown and a third to be announced. Deciem boasts the motto, “the abnormal beauty company” and now owns and operates more than 10 brands in the beauty world. In June 2017, Deciem entered a partnership with The Estee Lauder Companies, allowing them to continue growing their business.  

 

Herschel Supply Company set to open its first corporately owned store in Gastown this summer
The 5000 square foot space at 347 and 349 Water Street will become Herschel’s largest store in the world. The well-known brand, often sought after for its unique backpacks and luggage is sold to thousands of retailers in the world. Herschel has 45 stand-alone stores across Europe and Asia, however, this will be the first company-run brick and mortar location. Surprising as it may be that the company has taken this long to open a stand-alone store on its home turf, locals are still buzzing with excitement around the summer opening announcement.
