Fashion Jobs – Splurge Worthy Everyday Pieces

ST95-ADS

In many cases it’s smart to be thrifty, especially when it comes to buying basics like black and white tees, or anything so trendy that it’ll be passé in a season or two. However, smart fashion shoppers know there should be a few splurge-worthy pieces in every closet – the ones you will wear over and over and that will remain staples season after season.

I know how it feels being at a store and asking yourself “but would I ever wear it again?” Those are the items you should really think about before buying. No one wants to spend $500 on an item and never wear it again (I’m guilty of this). But some purchases, If you’re willing to invest a bit more of your hard earned dough, will pay you back – they’ll last a lot longer and if you style them right, you can wear them for years to come. Trust me. It’s worth it!

Blazer

An expensive blazer is well worth the money. They are worth the investment because the tailoring is sharper and the materials are long lasting. Thought is put into the lining and the cut. And a great blazer can fix a multitude of (croissant?) sins. I’ve paid up to $500 for a blazer but I plan on wearing it forever.

Jeans

A wardrobe of jeans is fun but you should have at least one splurge worthy pair that makes your bum rock. Preferably in an even, dark wash so they don’t go out of style. DL1961 don’t sag and have multi way stretch to lift and hug without being too tight.

Black Pointy-Toe Pumps

Short of running a 5k, you will need them for everything: Interviews, internships, work, dates, going out to nice places, and most importantly they make you feel like a classy #girlboss.

Trench Coat

No matter where you live, in the fall it seems like on any given day, there could be unbearable winds, extreme humidity, a torrential downpour of rain, sleet or snow. Trench coats convey a chic, effortless, classy look and are definitely splurge worthy and timeless.

Statement Necklace

There are tons of places to buy costume jewelry but investing in a few expensive pieces will put your outfits together and last you a long time. These pieces can bring your outfit from drab to fab. That basic white T-shirt – boom, second level.

A Cross Body Bag

A small cross body bag (aka the CBB) is definitely something you’re going to want in your closet. While the lack of space may induce a panic attack for over-packers, the CBB exudes a practical, less-is-more habit, and can be worn in both casual and formal settings, making it a splurge worthy investment.
