Ever since it was a style that helped to start a revolution in the 1980s, a menswear aesthetic has been prominent in women’s fashion. However, gone are the days of massive shoulder pads, because the new masculine style is designed for a lady.
The most prominent features of a menswear style are the cut, and the material. Typically, they have larger silhouettes, pleats and higher necklines. The materials are also thicker, and textures like tweed, houndstooth and twill are predominately used. This season, designers have updated the classic male look, and made it applicable for women everywhere. Feminine shapes, empire waists, cropped pants and colour have all been added to the style. Menswear is very easy to incorporate into everyday life, and it can be taken from a party to the office very easily. Just remember that you are a woman, and make sure that you dress for your body.
